Rescue Squad 15 Enters Service to the Citizens of New Market

Rollover with Entrapment on Interstate 70

On Tuesday April 18th at 1342 hours, Carroll Chief 12 (Ruch) advised Emergency Communications of a vehicle accident with rollover on Interstate 70 Eastbound just prior to Route 75. With A159 being on another call, E152(DFRS Capt. Newman), D15(Capt. Thews), and C15-2(AFC Betts) responded on the call with 6 personnel. Volunteers Attend Swift Water Boat Operator Training

n Monday 4/10 and Tuesday 4/11, two members of the New Market District VFC swift water rescue team attended a Boat Operator class hosted by Frederick County DFRS. The class consisted of classroom and practical sessions. Time was spent on our very own Lake Linganore, as well as some of the more treacherous stretches of the Potomac River near Potomac, MD. New Market Volunteers Receive a Grant from BGE for Hurst Pedal Cutter

The New Market District Volunteer Fire Company is pleased to announce its receipt of a grant award from BGE in the Emergency Response and Safety Grant Program for $2,000.00 toward a Hurst Pedal Cutter. The funding will purchase a Hurst Jaws of Life mini cutter kit, which will be placed on Rescue Squad 15. Rescue Squad 15 Progress Report #13

The rescue squad has returned from Priority Install, where the new LED lights were installed. The new LED lights are a vast improvement over older halogen and strobe models. The units has been in the station for a few days getting more mounting work completed. Most of the Amkus tools were mounted, as well as axes and sledges. Collision with Entrapment on Route 75

On Wednesday March 22nd at 0847 hours Company 15 units were alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 75 and Old New Market Road. A159(DFRS FF Kelly), E152 (DFRS Lt. Wilby), D15 (Capt. Thews), and C15-2 (AFC Betts) responded with 8 personnel. D15 arrived to find a two vehicle head on collision with one patient trapped. Rescue Squad 15 Progress Report #12

Progress continues to be made towards getting the rescue squad in service. The last of the drawer inserts was completed for the air tools in the mounted tool box. New hand lights were installed in the rear walk-in. The cribbing is nearing completion, with over 170 pieces that have been cut, sanded, painted, and handles attached. Volunteers Catch Work on Fill-in For Brunswick Rescue

On Saturday March 4, 2017, Brunswick Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Company held their annual awards banquet. BVAR asked New Market District VFC to provide standby coverage of Rescue Squad 19 for the night. The NMDVFC provided four volunteers to cover RS19 all night.
