New Market Volunteers Purchase a New Ambulance

By Fire Chief Benjamin Nalborczyk
April 13, 2016

In late 2015 under the direction of Captain Kelly Nalborczyk a committee was formed to investigate the replacement of our current Basic Life Support Ambulance, Ambulance-159. The committee met and spent several hours looking over new units in the area, spending time at the MSFA Convention viewing units and gathering data as well as making trips to different vendors to explore what is out there as our best option to improve upon our current county owned unit which has served since 2002 responding on thousands of calls. The committee proudly recommended to the department the entering into a contract with Global Emergency Vehicles of Pennsylvania (http://www.globalemergencyvehicles.com/) for the purchase of a 2017 Ford F-450 4x4 Type I GEV Ambulance. The unit will feature increased radio capabilities, increased patient compartment size, increased storage, 4x4 chassis to battle those East Coast winters and will be one of the first units built on Fords newly redesigned F Series chassis (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOr5qRTeaag). The committee is very proud of their hard work and effort put into purchasing this unit and they look forward to receiving the unit in August 2016 with hopes of having it in service by October 2016. This is the first Basic Life Support Ambulance that has been purchased with department funds since the 1980s. The leadership of the department hopes this Ambulance to eventually be staffed by Volunteer Advanced Life Support providers as the department actively works to gain interest and guide members into Advanced Life Support training. The department is extremely excited and proud of this new unit and would like to render Thanks to each and every one of our community members that come out and support us at all of our fundraisers or by your generous financial contributions without all your support no matter the size this project would have not been possible.

Units: A159
